Bulgaria: Greek Embassy: No Discussion of Greece Leaving Euro Zone Euro Area - Map from Wikipedia

There is no discussion in the EU of Greece leaving the euro zone, the Greek Embassy in Sofia has told Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency).

"We would like to underline that many times it has been stated by European and Greek competent officials that there is not any such possibility and all relevant scenarios are mere speculations," the Embassy said in reaction to publications by Novinite.com of international media reports that the Euro Group countries and the Greek government are considering the possibility of Greece exiting the euro zone in order to restructure its debt.

"The Prime Minister of Luxembourg and President of the Euro Group Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker characteristically stated that "we have not been discussing the exit of Greece from the euro area. This is a stupid idea. It is an avenue we would never take". The Greek Prime Minister as well as the Greek Minister of Finance overruled the existence or the discussion of such a scenario only recently," the Greek Embassy in Sofia said.
