Bulgaria has won the privilege to host the 2011 edition of the Mrs European Union beauty contest. The event has been scheduled for early September 2011 at the luxury St George complex of the Sveti Vlas resort on the Black Sea coast.

Mrs Megi Savova, owner and producer of the Mrs Bulgaria beauty pageant, will be representative for Bulgaria at Mrs European Union 2011.

The host of Mrs European Union 2011 will be Elena Karakoleva, Mrs Bulgaria 2010, who also won the Mrs European Union prize last year.

This year's edition of the contest will bring together the most beautiful women within the entire EU.

During the one-week stay in Bulgaria, the ladies be acquainted with the country's history, traditions, cultural background, and, last but not least, Bulgarians' hospitality and entertaining skills.

As part of the accompanying program, the beauty pageant contestants will visit historical sites like the "Winners' Spring" near Targovishte, and the towns of Pliska and Preslav- Bulgarian capitals during the Middle Ages.

Apart from being beautiful and married, Mrs European Union 2011 needs to be a lady of high-self esteem with an excellent career and a family. She should also uphold European values and be committed to socially significant causes.

The candidates will have the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities during a a round table devoted to key issues for the EU like human rights and the role of women in Europe today.

The agenda of the 2011 edition of the beauty pageant also envisages participation in local charity campaigns.
