Al Qaeda head Osama bin Laden may have lived in Pakistan for over seven years before being hunted down in a US assassination raid, according to senior Pakistani security officials

Bin Laden's wife, Amal, told investigators that they lived in a village in the Pakistani Haripur district for some two and a half years before moving to nearby Abbottabad at the end of 2005, an anonymous security official revealed, according to the Toronto Star. The village was called Chak Shah Mohammad, the Economic Times reports.

For all these years, he West had believed that Osama was hiding in the tribal region in the restive Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
