One of the top Hollywood stars, Ben Affleck, has spent less than 24 hours in Bulgaria where he came to check out local film studios in Sofia in connection with a new movie project.

Ben Affleck inspected the NU Boyana studios, where the shooting of the movie Argo will most probably take place. According to unconfirmed information, Affleck will direct the movie, which will be produced by George Clooney.

CEO of NU Boyana David Varod confirmed for Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) that Affeck has checked out the company studios but pointed out that "Ben Affleck is checking other options, too, which is perfectly normal."

Varod warned that the Bulgarian government is not willing to create incentives for film making, which might stop Hollywood stars like Ben Affleck and George Clooney from shooting in the country.

Ben Affleck's new project Argo is based on an article that appeared in Wired magazine about "a stranger-than-fiction CIA rescue operation during the occupation of the American embassy in Tehran in 1979, when six US diplomats were held hostage. The CIA hatched a scheme involving disguises and a fake Hollywood film crew on a location-scouting mission to help get the captives out of the country."
