The number of Bulgarians on Facebook has reached 2 million, according to data of the Bulgarian-Danish Internet marketing solutions firm Komfo.

This means that almost one-third of Bulgaria's population, and every other Bulgarian Internet user is registered in the most popular global social network Facebook, reveals the data as cited by expert.bg.

Bulgaria's "Facebook penetration rate" is thus similar to that of Greece, Slovenia, and Hungary. The "second million" of Bulgarians have joined Facebook in the last 13 months.

Bulgarians' activeness on Facebook is said to be at the global average with 50% of those registered using the social network every day or every other day.

The fastest growing group of new Bulgarian Facebook users is that of the 25-35-year-olds. However, while a year ago, Bulgarians between 18 and 40 years of age were 80% of all Bulgarian Facebook users, their share has not dropped to 64%.

"The Bulgarian Facebook users are acquiring very quickly a mature attitude with respect to the use of social networks that is characteristic of the countries where Facebook has had a longer presence," Komfo's business development manager Ivaylo Hristov is quoted as saying.
