Bulgaria: How to Avoid Bulgaria's National Security Service?

A citizen whose car was hit by the Bulgarian Defense Minister's escort vehicle in 2010 will be sued by Sofia's military court for "not avoiding the accident."

As the number of car crashes involving escorting vehicles of high Bulgarian officials has been rapidly growing, reaching at least 31 in 2010, one might start contemplating preventive measures.

Firstly, Bulgaria's driving schools may consider introducing special expert classes dedicated on the intricate and fast maneuvers that might save a citizen, should he or she happen to be in the way of the National Security Service's "flying" escort drivers.

It is hard to believe the embattled citizen in question did not try to avoid the accident, in which his 4 year-old daughter was injured – it just so happened he did not possess the skills of Michael Schumacher.

Secondly – and more seriously – the National Security Service may want to reconsider its psycho test policy. The idea of escort drivers picturing themselves as NASCAR racers is simply disturbing – not because it damages the already damaged image of the officials they provide the service for, but since much more tragic scenarios are possible.
