Bulgaria Detains 8 Random Aliens Trying to Enter from Turkey

Society | March 6, 2011, Sunday // 11:32

Bulgarian border authorities have detained overnight eight persons attempting to illegally enter the country from Turkey in three separate cases.

In one of them Bulgarian border police found and detained a Libyan citizen near the Malko Tarnovo checkpoint in the southeastern corner of the country, who was attempting to wander in Bulgaria. The information that the police has does not suggest that the person's action has something to do with the violent unrest currently going on in his home country.

In the second case, police in the town of Svilengrad, near which the main checkpoint to Turkey - Kapitan Andreevo - is located, detained a taxi cab with four Turkish nationals. The men were detected by cameras to have illegally crossed the border beforehand.

In the third case, border officers at Kapitan Andreevo detained three citizens of the Dominican Republic who showed up at the checkpoint with residency documents from Spain, which were found to be fake.
