It is apparent that the Bulgarian government has given up on its war with organized crime and has signed a truce with it, Ivan Kostov, co-leader of the rightist Blue Coalition said Wednesday.

"Bulgaria is in severe depression," Kostov, who is a former Prime Minister (1997-2001), stated before the Bulgarian National Television (BNT). In his opinion, Bulgaria is in a stagflation, the situation when both high inflation and economic stagnation are occurring simultaneously.

According to the Blue Coalition, the ruling centrist-rightists GERB government's main issue is ITS failure in combating organized crime. "We no longer support Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov," Kostov declared.

If Prime Minister Boyko Borisov does not fire Tsvetanov, he will have to face the whole responsibility for his deputy's actions, according to the rightist leader. Kostov added it is unclear whether the Blue Coalition will abstain once again or vote against the government should there be a no confidence vote in the Bulgarian Parliament.

The members of the Blue Coalition, which has been an uneasy and highly critical ally of GERB in spite of the prodding of the European People's Party (to which both entities belong), abstained during the vote of confidence in January 2011, as its MPs did not wish to vote the same way as the Bulgarian Socialist Party and the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms, who voted against.

The confidence vote was demanded by Boyko Borisov as a result of a wiretapping scandal which involved leaked phone conversations of high officials. It is still unclear whether, the conversations, whose authenticity cannot be verified, leaked from the Interior Ministry.
