Bulgaria will send a note to Greece and to the European Commission regarding a potential blockade at the Kulata-Promahon cross point on the Bulgarian-Greek border, Bulgaria's Agriculture Minister said.
"If we reach again last year's situation, it will definitely affect the good Bulgarian-Greek relations because we will not tolerate this for the third consecutive year," Naydenov said.
The minister has discussed the situation with Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov and with Greece's Agriculture Minister.
According to the Bulgarian Economy Minister, Traicho Traikov, the damages for the Bulgarian truck drivers were not significant. However, he pointed out that if the situation worsens, Bulgaria will present the question on all possible EU levels.
"The Greek authorities informed the European Commission yesterday for possible blockade at the Kulata-Promahon cross point and have promised to give additional information on the measures they will take, in order to ensure the free movement of goods, in case the border is blocked," said Charlotte Arwidi, the EC spokesperson on Enterprise and Industry.
She has stated that the European legislation for internal market obliges EU member states to inform the EC for similar situation and on the measures they are planning to take to ensure the safe movement of people and goods.
