The meeting was co-organized by the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and was opened by the chairman of the Japanese-Bulgarian Economic Council, Koichiro Fukui.

Bulgarian Ministers of Economy and Energy Traicho Traikov and of Agriculture Miroslav Naydenov also took part in the forum.

The Bulgarian party stressed on the government's efforts in maintaining a favorable business environment and lessening the administrative burden in the country, as well as on the good market reputation of the 52,000 companies members of the BCCI.

Over 40 leading Japanese companies took part in the forum, many of them involved in innovative technologies or working in investment.

A number of informal bilateral business meetings were held within the framework of the forum.
