A 37-year-old man has been arrested at the international airport in Miami after his luggage caused a small explosion on the tarmac.

The explosion caused by bullet parts in a suitcase did not result in any injuries or damage.

Upon investigating the incident, the FBI said the man, a naturalized US citizen traveling to Jamaica, does not seem to be linked to any terrorist groups or organizations.

FBI spokesman Mark Leverock announced the man's luggage contained hundreds of components of bullet cartridges.

The arrested man was charged with transportation of hazardous materials and could face up to five years in prison if convicted, Leverock said, as cited by American media.

The incident did not disrupt the traffic at the Miami airport even though several gates were closed for two hours during the investigation.
