The new DVD and Blue-ray entitled "The Big Four: Live From Sofia, Bulgaria", filmed last June at a gig starring Metallica, Slayer , Megadeth and Anthrax, has reached double platinum status in France and Australia and gold in several countries.
"The Big Four: Live From Sofia, Bulgaria" was recorded at the Sofia Rocks Sonisphere Festival.
The live recording debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard "Top Music Videos" sales chart in November with sales of 22 000 copies. The set also debuted at No. 1 in Canada, the U.K. and Austria, while entering at No. 4 in Germany.
The recorded show was part of a two-week European tour featuring the four legendary names from the 80's thrash metal era. The idea for the joint concert first came up last year.
"The Big Four: Live From Sofia, Bulgaria" set features full shows from all four bands along with behind-the-scenes and interview footage.
The four groups came together for the first time for a tour starting with a concert in Poland in the beginning of June, which attracted 100 000 people. Besides Bulgaria on June 22, the Big Four rocked Switzerland, Czech Republic, Romania, Turkey, and Greece.
Only the Sofia concert, however, was the only shot and shown live in movie theaters around the world, which is why the organizers are urging all Bulgarian fans to come together in order to contribute to an unforgettable music event.
A "Big Four" tour of the U.S. and other parts of Europe is deemed very possible for 2011.
