Elevated levels of dust, missing installations for the cleaning of construction equipment and missisng fences were discovered by the inspectors of the Sofia City Hall.

The probe of infrastructure sites in the Bulgarian capital was ordered by Mayor Yordanka Fandakova in mid-September, after a young woman on bike was killed near the downtown metro construction location by a heavy truck, whose driver failed to see her.

In 10 days the inspectors checked 21 sites including the subway, the sewage, and the repairs of major roads. In addition to the above violations, they found out most builders failed to adhere to the temporary traffic changes and to place sings and directions.

The City Hall informs most of the contractors took measures to fix the oversights after the probe while those who fail to do so face sanctions and even closures of the sites.
