Romania Gets Ahead of Bulgaria Again: PM Expects Visa-Free Travel to US by October
Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu has announced that Romanians will likely no longer require visas to travel to the United States by October of this year
Many Romanian citizens have condemned France's expulsion of Bulgarian and Romanian Roma to their homelands and have expressed concerns about the safety of their families, a poll showed.
The survey was conducted in September by the Institute for Assessment and Strategies, as reported by ITAR-TASS.
According to the results, 57% of the respondents have a "bad or very bad opinion of Roma", 40% have even confessed that the mentioning of the word Roma causes them "negative associations related to theft, fraud and begging".
Only 10% of the respondents have defined Roma as "normal people".
The poll also shows that 37% of the Romanians do not want Roma for neighbors, 32% do not want to live in the same city with them and 23% would not accept them as colleagues at work.
At the same time 82% of the respondents have claimed that Romania is the most tolerating of Roma country in comparison with other EU member states
