On April 26, 1986, the world witnessed a catastrophic event that would leave an indelible mark on history
A young woman was killed in downtown Sofia Tuesday afternoon after being run over by a heavy duty construction truck.
The terrible accident happened at the major intersection between the "Vitosha" and "Patriarch Evtimiy" boulevards while the truck was maneuvering in an attempt to enter or exit the construction site for subway excavations, which is adjacent to the intersection.
The traffic pattern in the busy area was altered recently over the construction works, making the section for cars very narrow while "Vitosha" has been closed for trams. The location of the traffic lights and pedestrian crossings were also changed.
The young women, who died on the spot, was riding her bike near the construction site's fence.
