Bulgaria’s southern Black Sea coast is facing new power outages, the electric power utility EVN warns Thursday.
The reason for the latest blackout is a planned disconnection the “Aheloy” power line, owned by the Bulgaria National Electric company (NEK).
The power line will be turned off between 5 and 7 am Friday morning. EVN will attempt to use back up supply from the Kabsleshkovo substation, but still warn about possible loss of power.
The power utility further informs the use of electric power on the Southern Black Sea coast over the smoldering heat is higher than the capacity of the electric network.
The warning comes on the heels of an end of July incident when the failure of two NEK posts left nearly 56 000 vacationers strained without electric power, air conditioning and hot water, prompting many to leave early or cancel holiday plans.
Bulgaria’s State National Security Agency DANS probe showed that “an evil-minded encroachment” has caused the July power outage, Traicho Traikov, Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism, recently informed, but failed to offer more details.
