Bulgaria: Bulgarian FBI Spends BGN 42 M for Six Months The Bulgarian National State Security Agency has spent 43% of its budget in the first six months of 2010. File photo

The expenses of the Bulgarian National State Security Agency (DANS) for the first six months of 2010 were 43% of the agency’s funding for the whole year.

The funding of DANS amounts to BGN 96 810 060. For the first half of the year, the expenses were BGN 41,6 M. The biggest part of them has been used for paying salaries – BGN 26,5 M.

The agency has pointed out that structures that have doubled the work of the police were shut down in the period January-June 2010.

Employees from the operational fields of the agency have been increased from 64% to 72%. On the other hand, the number of people working in the information-analytical and administrative structures of the agency has been decreased.
