A new power outage has been reported in Bulgaria’s beach resort St. Vlas, where tourist have been left without light, air conditioning and hot water for five hours Friday night.
This is the latest blackout, coming in the heels two serious breakdowns of electric posts of Bulgaria’s National Electric Company (NEK) on July 23, which stranded several Black Sea coast resorts without electricity for days, prompting tourists to leave early or cancel vacation plans.
Bulgaria’s State National Security Agency DANS probe showed that “an evil-minded encroachment” has caused the July power outage, Traicho Traikov, Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism, recently informed, but failed to offer more details.
“Our hotels are filled with holidaymakers. You can ask them now what they think of Bulgaria as a vacation destination and if they would come again,” disgruntled hotel owners commented on the latest incident.
