Ukrainian Woman Detained in Sunny Beach After Attempted Bribery of Police Officers
Bulgarian authorities found themselves grappling with a peculiar case involving a 60-year-old Ukrainian woman
Bulgaria’s State National Security Agency DANS has concluded that “an evil-minded encroachment” has caused the recent power outage along the southern Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
The conclusion of the Bulgarian FBI, which investigated the outage at the end of July that left dozens of thousands of tourists, including parts of the country’s largest resort Sunny Beach, without electricity for 44 hours, was announced Monday by Traicho Traikov, Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism.
However, Traikov provided no further details as to the nature of the malicious damage, and said there were no specific persons suspected of perpetrating it.
The failures of the power lines of the National Electric Company NEK last week led many tourists to leave the Bulgarian Black Sea resorts or to cancel their plans.
More detailed results of the investigation of the power outage are expected to be made public by DANS and the Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR).
