It's Baby Girl for Swedish Crown Princess
Swedish Crown Princess Victoria gave birth to her first child, a girl, her husband Prince Daniel said Thursday.
Swedish Crown Princess Victoria marries Saturday her former personal trainer in what is to become one of the biggest ever public celebrations in Stockholm.
It is Sweden's first royal wedding since 1976.
Victoria, 32, weds 36-year-old commoner Daniel Westling at Stockholm Cathedral. She will be escorted down the aisle by her father, whom she is first in line to succeed.
Afterwards, the couple will ride through the city downtown in a horse-drawn carriage. 10 military bands will perform for the huge crowds along the route, which has been covered with flowers and blue and yellow flags. 18 Gripen fighter jets will fly above the city to celebrate the wedding. Some 6 000 military personnel and 2 000 police are providing security.
The carriage will take the newly-weds to the same royal barge Victoria's parents, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, used on their wedding day exactly 34 years ago, to be carried across the harbor to Drottningholm Palace.
More than 1,200 guests, including royals from around the world, have been invited to the ceremony, and will attend the evening reception at the Palace, BBC reports. The guest list is secret, but the Norwegian and Danish royal families have already arrived, as has Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and Prince Albert of Monaco. Bulgaria’s former Tsar and Prime Minister, Simeon Saxe-Coburg and wife Margarita are also expected to be among those invited.
After the wedding, Westling, who met Victoria in 2002, will assume the title of Prince Daniel, Duke of Vastergotland.
