The Netherlands scored an expected, but not as satisfying win over Denmark in the first game of the round in Group E of the 2010 World Cup.

The Dutch won their deserved three points but did not show their typical beautiful game.

In the first minute of the second halftime, Simon Poulsen scored an own-goal, giving advantage to the Dutch. In the 83rd minute, Dirk Kuyt wrapped up the game, scoring the second winning goal.

Japan and Cameroon will play in the next game in Group E.
