Bulgaria Enjoys More of US Discovery Networks Channels
US Discovery Communication company is launching two new TV channels in Bulgaria, company representatives Lee Hobbs and Amanda Turnbull announced Thursday.
The new channels will be the local versions of the American programs. Until now Discovery Channel, which is part of Discovery Communication company, was available in Bulgaria on digital satellite platforms. It was displayed with Bulgarian subtitles since 2000-2001. Starting June, the subtitles will be replaced with dubbing in Bulgarian. According to Hobbs, the change will make the channel accessible to more people.
The second new channel ”TLC” will be launched in October and will air different genre shows, emphasizing on modern women's lives. “We believe the channel will fill a niche on the market,” Turnbull said.
Along with the launching of the channels, the international company will give more opportunity for the Bulgarian advertisers, said Turnbull, who is head of the Advertising sales department.
For the first time Bulgarian companies will have the opportunity to present their ads as part of the program. Private Bulgarian channel Nova TV will manage all advertising sales for Discovery Communications in the country.
Discovery Networks EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) was established in 1989 with the launch of Discovery Channel. Today, 13 networks brands reach 217 million cumulative subscribers across 105 countries.
Discovery Networks EMEA is part of Discovery Communication, the world's number one nonfiction media company reaching more than 1.5 billion cumulative subscribers in over 180 countries. Discovery empowers people to explore their world and satisfy their curiosity through 100-plus worldwide networks, led by Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Science Channel, Investigation Discovery, Planet Green and HD Theater.
