Bulgaria's conservative Order, Law and Justice (RZS) party, which recently withdrew its support for the center-right government, has called on the president and prime minister to resign.
"This will be the best political event during Bulgaria's twenty-year transition period and the best anti-crisis measure,“ the party leader Yane Yanev said on Thursday.
Yanev described Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and President Georgi Parvanov as "people with common communist past“ and "puppets in the hands of the oligarchs“.
Commenting on the prime minister's words that he is not afraid to face his political foes in early elections, Yanev said the ruling GERB party will not dare initiate such elections because its approval rates have sharply fallen since the latest vote.
The party accused Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov of abusing his power and playing behind the curtain games that pave his way to the presidential office. According to RZS members political represessions are widespread in many institutions, a process, which is allegedly masterminded by the interior minister.
RZS leader Yane Yanev has repeatedly accused Prime Minister Boyko Borisov of replacing the vote of the people by establishing a new illegal tree-way coalition, modeled on the previous Socialist-led government.
According to him the new behind-the-scene coalition is made up of the leaders of the ruling GERB, the nationalist Ataka and the die-hard right-wing Democrats for Strong Bulgaria parties, which have been the staunches supporters of the current government.
RZS party has been in the spotlight for the last four months following the defection of two of its members, which took its parliamentary group below the ten-member minimum and stripped it of its official status.
The party leader Yane Yanev was quick to blame the prime minister for the falling apart of the parliamentary group, saying his aim was to impose dictatorship-like style of ruling.
GERB leader Boyko Borissov reacted to the fall of the Zhelyazkov government during a live broadcast on his official Facebook page, following the mass protests across the country.
The government is making a second clumsy attempt to introduce the state budget.
