The BNB Paribas bank will donate EUR 100 000 to the Bulgarian Tennis Federaton (BFT), Ullrich-Günther Schubert, Managing Director and Head of Territory, announced Friday.
The Bank and BFT signed an agreement for general sponsorship in the presence of the President of the International Tennis Federation, Francesco Ricci Bitti.
The sponsorship aims at the development not only of professional tennis, but to help children, students, orphans and employees enjoy the sport.
BNB Paribas is sponsor number 1 of tennis around the world and several tournaments will be held in Bulgaria in 2010 for the Banks' Trophy – for veterans, handicapped people, the State women and men competitions. In addition, the funds will be used to give tennis lessons to disadvantaged and handicap children.
The BFT President, Stefan Tsvetkov, says that since BNB Paribas became a sponsor, Bulgarian tennis is developing very fast and the funds help the preparation of the national teams for tournaments such as "Davies Cup" and "Fed Cup."
Earlier Friday, Bitti met with Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, to discuss the state of Bulgarian tennis, ways to help children and youth players, and improve tennis facilities.
