The European Commission approved a project of the Bulgarian Association of Milk Producers to advertise Bulgarian cheese in Spain and Germany.

The program which aims at busting sales of Bulgarian feta cheese and yellow cheese known as kashkaval is valued an BGN 6.3 M with 50% financed by the EC, 30% from the State budget and 20% by the private business.

The advertisement campaign, prepared entirely by Bulgarian companies, includes TV commercials, print media advertisement and articles and presentations at fairs and exhibitions over the course of 3 years.

Consortiums of businesses in the food manufacturing industry can apply each year for EC advertisement financing as long as they present a local product and not a particular brand. The approval of the Bulgarian cheese is a first for the country.
