The border crossing point Kulata – Promahon between Bulgaria and Greece is closed again Saturday over the protesting Greek farmers’ blockade.

The blockade is in its 20th day and 200 tractor-trailers are reported to be waiting in line.

Until 6 pm Friday, buses and cars were let trough, but the check point has been completely closed for trucks. Part of the truck drivers already left for the other border crossing point at Ilinden – Eksohi after the farmers there announced they are terminating their protests.

Tensions are expected to further escalate at Kulata Saturday because representatives of the National Association of Bulgarian Business have issued threats to block the Bulgarian side of the border as retaliation for the losses endured by Bulgarian companies.

The police chief in the city of Blagoevgrad vows his employees will not allow any altercations at the border and they have enough people and resources to prevent incidents.
