Bulgarian soldier, Krasimir Petrov Katsarski, prevented the unauthorized entrance of an Afghan truck into the NATO Air Base in Kandahar, Afghanistan, the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense reported Thursday.
In a Ministry of Defense press release it was stated that private Katsarski from the Bulgarian ISAF contingent at the Kandahar base showed high professionalism in stopping an unauthorized vehicle driven by an Afghan citizen from entering the base.
The empty truck was stopped by Katsarski at one of the check points on the NATO Air base boundary and the Ministry of Defense praised him for acting in accordance with standard operating procedures.
The NATO Air Base in Kandahar is on high alert after recent rocket attacks by the Taliban from the surrounding mountains, including one which was said to have targeted Bulgaria Defense Minister, Nikolay Mladenov on his visit there Sunday.
