Bulgaria Defense Minister, Nikolay Mladenov, has confirmed that the investigation after the Krumovgrad tragedy, in which three teenagers died in an explosion at an orphanage, has now ended.

Mladenov said that there had been some “pretty interesting things” discovered by the investigation. He added that a number of questions had been raised about how the military kept records of stored weapons.

Hamdi Ali, the heating engineer at the orphanage along with social workers Krasimir Terziev and Shengyul Hassan, as well as the former director of the social home, Svetoslav Deyov, were all bailed and are due to appear in court charged in connection with the tragedy.

The victims Dzhingiz Rushen (13), and Sunay Keazim (16) and Dzhingiz Dzhemal (15) were killed when an improvised home-made bomb constructed from an old mine exploded in early December.
