Between 15 000 and 25 000 teenagers in Bulgaria are regular drinkers of hard liquor.
According to a survey of the National Drug Addiction Center, the number of drinking teenagers in Bulgaria has increased threefold over the last 10 years; the number of drinking teenage girls has grown sixfold.
The more optimistic estimates state that 5%-6% of the high school students in Bulgaria aged between 13 and 18 drink alcohol regularly. The heavy drinkers usually stick to daily portions of 2,5 liters of beer, or 1 liter of wine, or 250 ml of rakia (traditional Bulgarian brandy).
The Administrative Court has annulled the municipal rules that prohibited the consumption of alcohol in public outdoor spaces in Ruse, following an appeal filed by Regional Governor Dragomir Draganov.
Bulgarian authorities seized 215 liters of alcohol from a commercial premises in the village of Malo Konare, Pazardzhik region, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Pazardzhik reported.
