Following Iran's drone attack on Israel, Bulgaria's government has reassured its citizens that there is currently no immediate threat to national security
The Bulgaria Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has announced that it will implement permanent targeted control of security and protection of children in state institutions.
Deputy Social Minister Valentina Simeonova confirmed that the measures will be introduced to stop more tragic incidents like the one in a Krumovgrad orphanage on Saturday in which 3 teenagers died in an explosion.
Simeonova explained that in every social institution must now install a camera to monitor who and what is entering or leaving the building, and they must work to make sure that children are protected in the institution.
The Social Ministry in cooperation with municipalities will monitor the implementation of these protective measures, added Simeonova.
Meanwhile Simeonova added that Bulgarian children who are left in state care institutions by their parents for more than six months will now immediately be put up for adoption; "For years some people have believed that the the state is obliged to take care of their child, but now each of them must take responsibility.”
She concluded that the Ministry is developing a package of monetary measures to support vulnerable groups, including the mandatory inclusion of illiterate unemployed Bulgarians into literacy courses.
