Bulgaria' Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Krasimir Kostov, resigned Friday, the cabinet's press center informs.

Kostov submitted his resignation on the heels of his exposure as having belonged to the so-called “State Security”, the secret police and intelligence of the former communist regime. The resignation was accepted by Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov.

Kostov says he had not been pressured to resign and at the time when he accepted the post he told Foreign Minister, Rumiana Jeleva, who on Friday became Bulgaria's new EC Commissioner, that he would submit his resignation intermediately if his presence at the Ministry becomes a problem.

Kostov was assigned the responsibility of overseeing the Ministry's EU Integration department.

His counterpart, Vladimir Lyutskanov, will temporarily take over his duties.

On Wednesday, in addition to Bozhidar Dimitrov, Minister for Bulgarians Abroad, who used to be part of the “cultural” intelligence, spying on the Vatican, two more names from the cabinet of the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party were announced by the so called Files Commission, which is in charge of checking and declassifying formerly secret information.

The other one is the Deputy Minister of Interior, Pavlin Dimitrov.
