US publishing magnate Steve Forbes was bestowed an Honorary Doctor's Degree by the New Bulgarian University late in the evening on June 21. In his speech, Forbes said Bulgaria needs to deepen reforms in view of its upcoming NATO accession. There should be a rule of law, corruption should be brought under control and taxes should come down but the most important thing is to believe in the future, Forbes said. At a meeting with the Vuzrazhdane business club, Forbes said Bulgaria is on the verge of a new era, an era of economic growth and European integration. He underlined that Washington is very well disposed towards the work of the Bulgarian government, recognizes the changes in the armed forcesand the efforts to fight terrorism and the arms traffic.
