The Bulgarian judicial authorities are considering launching a trial parallel to the procedures against three Bulgarian citizens in Moscow over piracy charges.

On November 5, 2009, three Bulgarians – Kostadin Kostov, Krasimir Velchev, and Simeon Borisov - were arrested in Moscow on charges of copyright and piracy violations after a special police operation which caused a diplomatic scandal between Bulgaria and Russia as the Russian officers stormed the Bulgarian Industrial Center in Moscow.

The three men were part of the management of the Millenium 2001 firm which operates a CD plant at Zelenograd, 30 km away from Moscow. Bulgaria and Russia are still negotiating on whether the Bulgarian Industrial Center in Moscow has or has not diplomatic immunity status.

At the request of Bulgaria’s Supreme Cassation Prosecutor’s Office, the Bulgarian Embassy in Moscow has asked the Russian authorities for additional information to used by the prosecutors in Sofia for their decision whether to run a parallel trial against the three defendants, BGNES reported.
