Bulgaria: Caretaker Prime Minister Replaced Chairman of State Agency for National Security
The Chairman of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) Dimitar Georgiev was relieved of his post following a decision of the Council of Ministers.
Bulgaria Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, has strongly criticized the creation of that State National Security Agency DANS.
Tsvetanov, speaking in an interview on bTV Monday, stated that the whole process for the creation of DANS was done with the aim to “pull the strings” of the government. He added ; “Everything that has happened at the agency since its inception has been for some purpose, but not to protect the interests of the State - DANS has abused classified information.
Tsvetanov also criticized former PM Sergey Stanishev by suggesting that “he was not in charge of anything during his reign... the accumulated problems are the result of Stanishev's inability to rule.”
Tsvetanov concluded that a lot of the current corruption, smuggling and other criminal scandals are as a result of the creation of DANS and its inability to do a good job and stated that he would aim to “clear out the worst of it.”
