Acquitted Ex Bulgarian Health Min: I Fell Pray of Mob Law
I was a scapegoat for the huge problems in Bulgaria's healthcare system, former Health Minister Bozhidar Nanev says in interview in the eve of World Health Day.
Bulgaria Health Minister, Bozhidar Nanev, has stated that the underlying funds in the health budget will be less for next year.
Nanev said that this will reduce the number of patients that will be treated in hospitals and medical institutions in 2010.
According to Nanev the National Health Insurance Fund currently pays several times for the same activity as doctors fail to treat patients successfully at the first attempt, leading to too many people being hospitalized.
Nanev announced that he will soon meet with Finance Minister Simeon Djankov, which will decide what percentage of the health insurance reserve of the Bulgarian National Bank will be used to cover the deficit in the health budget. Nanev explained that this year the state will not be able to cover all its obligations to hospitals in the country.
