More than 40% of Bulgarian women prefer giving birth with a Cesarean section rather than naturally.

This has been announced by Kristina Martinova from the patients’ organization, the “Naturally” Association.

Martinova said this is the result of a psychological disposition among younger women in the Bulgarian society that the natural birth is extremely painful, and dangerous for the mother.

The “Naturally” Association has reminded that the World Health Organization recommends that C-Section is used in no more than 10-15% of the child deliveries. The Association has vowed to work for increasing the role of obstetricians during the pregnancies of Bulgarian mothers.

“We are organizing seminars all across the country in order to attract public attention on natural birth, and the fact that future mothers in Bulgaria need support,” Martinova said.
