The Bulgarian, who is believed to have been the first to find the body of Boyzone singer Stephen Gately after he passed away, has not been charged with his death.
Georgi Dochev, 25, also known as Giorgio, told Darik Radio that a big part of the media reports about his involvement in this story are false.
“I have not been hunted down by the police and I have not been charged with Gately's death,” Dochev said.
Stephen Gately and his life partner Andrew Cowles are believed to have met Dochev in a gay club. There are unconfirmed reports that Cowles and Dochev spent the night together, while Gately slept on a couch in the living room.
Dochev is said to have discovered Gately’s dead body on the couch at 1 pm on Saturday when he and Cowles woke up.
“Now I am going to meet Gately's husband because I can't take this any longer,” Dochev told Darik Radio. “I just want to be left alone.”
The 33-year-old Stephen Gately was found dead on the sofa of his apartment in Port Andratx on Saturday following a night out with his partner Andrew Cowles.
A court official on the island of Majorca said the singer suffered a pulmonary oedema, an accumulation of fluid on the lungs.
Officials dismissed speculation that Gately choked on his own vomit, and said drugs and alcohol were not involved in his death.
A sample of pulmonary fluid taken during the post-mortem will be sent to a forensic laboratory in Barcelona for further tests to confirm the result, the court official said.
The official added that the investigation into the death will continue as a formality with Mr Cowles and one other person declared as official witnesses.
The second witness is thought to be Bulgarian Georgi Dochev.
