Bulgaria’s Minister for Bulgarians Abroad, Bozhidar Dimitrov, said Friday his seven-member team had one vacancy which could be taken by Macedonian with Bulgarian passport, Spaska Mitrova.

The Minister has offered Mitrova, who was released Thursday after she was jailed with a controversial sentence. The 23-year-old Macedonian mother has not responded to his offer yet.

She is expected to come to Sofia for treatment at the Military Medical Hospital but she will not do so before she is restored custody of her underage daughter which was given to her ex-husband when she went to jail end of July 2009.

Dimitrov reminded that the child has no right to leave Macedonia without the father’s permission, and Mitrova’s ex-husband will probably refuse it.

Dimitrov said Mitrova has a degree in English so she could work elsewhere in Bulgaria if she wished, for example, in the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry, or as a high school teacher of English.

“The fact that Mitrova was not given her child back when she was released is a violation of Macedonian laws. The kid must be returned to her mother today. The guards in the prison did harass Mitrova but the fact that the other inmates treated her well is indicative,” Dimitrov said.
