A truck carrying 33 large bottles of propane-butane gas has exploded Friday in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv.

The driver has been hospitalized with burns all over his face and hands, officials reported.

The truck set on fire causing all the propane-butane containing bottles to explode. The blast damages eight nearby vehicles. Besides the truck driver there were no other injured. According to witnesses, several explosions occurred in a row.

Unconfirmed information states as the reason for the explosion a small tourist bottle for propane-butane that was in the truck had a gas leak.

The fire department in Plovdiv managed to send two cars which to extinguished the fire in a short time.
