UDF-SOFIA ELECTS LEADER TODAY

Over eight hundred delegates of the Sofia organization of the rightist opposition Union of Democratic Forces elect their new leader today. The National Council of the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) decided to expel the former leader of the Sofia organization Evgeny Bakurdzhiev from the party structures in late November last year. Five are the rivals for the leadership position – Evdokia Maneva, current Sofia-UDF leader in office, Hristo Hristov, the leader of UDF – Sredets, Simon Spassov – leader of UDF – Kremikovtzi and former MP Sasho Stoyanov. The leader of UDF Nadezhda Mihaylova who opened the conference called on the delegates to elect in their leadership free and authoritative personalities who will work for the bringing back of the confidence in UDF. The voting procedure will start in the late afternoon and the new leader of UDF-Sofia is expected to be known late today.
