Vasil Terziev Succeeds Yordanka Fandakova Today: A New Era for Sofia Begins
Amidst the echoes of change, Vasil Terziev steps into the role of Sofia's mayor, succeeding Yordanka Fandakova
The annual Sprite Graffiti Fest 2009 took place Sunday in the Bulgarian capital Sofia bringing together the seventy best Bulgarian graffiti artists.
For the first time, the event was opened by Bulgaria's Education Minister, Yordanka Fandakova, who also took part in the painting.
"It is important for us that you feel well. Talent must be directed in favor of causes," said Fandakova in her address to the participants and the audience who gathered in the park before the National Palace of Culture in downtown Sofia.
The motto of this year's alternative art event in Sofia is "7 Years of Graffiti - Voices from the Street".
Apart from a graffiti painting competition in two categories, the event featured live performances by youth music bands, and a break dance contest.
The more renown members of the jury included SirGo - one of the top Bulgarian graffiti artists, and Dilks, who is among the founders of the graffiti culture in the UK.
