A huge demographic crisis will affect Bulgaria in the period between 2009 and 2012.

Chair of Bulgarian Teachers Syndicate, Yanka Takeva, stated so during a press conference in the Black Sea city of Burgas.

The 2009 school year will begin with 3 600 less students in the high school course, which will result in closing many classes. The year will start with 200 class less than the previous one, over the lack of children, she explained.

"Some schools in the Burgas region will not even open doors. The Demographic crisis is going in the upper grades now", Takeva said.

In her words the forecast on the number of children who will enter the schools in first grade are very optimistic. There will be 5 000 more first-graders than the previous school year.
