The leader of Bulgaria's nationalist party "Ataka", Volen Siderov, declared Monday in Parliament that the party would throw its support behind the new GERB government.
Siderov, whose party has 21 MPs, whereas GERB has 116 MPs in the 240-seat government, said "Ataka" was going to support the cabinet without any explicit conditions and limitations in time (unlike the RZS party which pledge unconditional support for the first 6 months).
"The Bulgarian people are wise; they voted for GERB but they also voted for three other parties - Ataka, the Blue Coalition, and RZS that could provide both support and criticism of the GERB party", Siderov declared.
The nationalist leader reiterated the priorities presented earlier by the incoming Prime Minister Borisov including the fight against corruption, the enforcement of strict and uniform rules, and the optimization of the state administration
"Together with the GERB party we are going to discuss all matters creatively, and as colleagues, and our word will be heard", Siderov stated noting that this was the first time in Bulgaria's political history with such a gentleman's agreement because the party lacking 5 MPs for a majority was going to get the support of three other parliamentary groups which did not have ministers in the new government.
