Bulgaria's incoming Foreign Minister, Rumiana Jeleva, declared all local interests, including energy security, would be realized only within a common EU policy context.
In a special interview for Darik radio Jeleva vowed to make economic relations a priority of Bulgaria's foreign policy, especially securing assistance for the realization of the large-scale energy projects.
Jeleva spoke Thursday, after the leader of the elections' winner, Citizen for European Development of Bulgaria, (GERB) party and future PM, Boyko Borisov handed back the mandate to President Parvanov.
When asked if her appointment as Foreign Minister for just several months was an effective move since Borisov already declared she would be nominated as Bulgaria's EC Commissioner, Jeleva said she was only focusing now on the foreign affairs, adding the EC procedure has not even been announced.
The incoming Foreign Minister said she needed one week to form her team to work on creating a positive image of Bulgaria all over the world.
Jeleva further stressed she would be directly responsible for the dialogue with the European Commission (EC), but would not deal with the EU funds since Borisov had a different vision and wanted to keep the best practices in the area of the funds' absorption.
