Beginning Sunday, a smoking ban is in force in Bulgaria's southeastern neighbor Turkey.
Smoking is banned in all restaurants, bars and coffee shops, including their outdoor spaces.
Offenders face fines between TRL 69 and 5 000 while the fine for throwing a cigarette butt on the street is TRL 25.
The Istanbul City Hall already hired 400 individuals to enforce the new law.
The ban was met with discontent by many in the country, especially the coffee shop owners and owners of places to smoke water pipes (Nargile in Turkish) over fears the number of their customers will slump.
