The Bulgarian Interior Ministry will start issuing new kind of identification documents in six months.
The new documents are being introduced as country's obligation after being accepted to the European Union.
The specific thing about them is that biometric data will be included. Each citizen, after filing the required form, will be scanned, and his biometric characteristics will be implemented into his documents.
In this way identification documents protection goes to the next, more secure level.
The prices for the new documents will be as follow - BGN 40 a passport, BGN 19 for an ID card, and BGN 35 for a driving license.
The documents will be issued in 30 Interior Ministry offices around Bulgaria. There will be different time options for the orders - ordinary (issued in 30 days), fast (3 days), and express (8 hours).
The Bulgarian passport offers its holders visa-free access to 178 countries and territories, placing it 11th globally for travel freedom and expedited border crossing, according to Henley & Partners.
