Bulgaria's Minister of Justice, Miglena Tacheva, and her Polish counterpart have come up with a new approach on children's custody case that outraged Bulgaria last week.
A family drama between Todor Vasilev from Bulgaria's Asenovgrad, and his Polish wife Barbara resulted in the mother seizing with the help of the police one of her kids, the 8-year-old Nikoleta, and taking her to Poland, while the 7-year-old Pavel managed to run away.
According to the Bulgarian and Polish Ministers of Justice, the best way to resolve the dispute between the two parents would be mediation with the participation of mediators on both the Bulgarian and the Polish side, BGNES reported.
Tacheva hopes that the Bulgarian father, Todor Vasilev, would be willing to accept the mediation as the way to resolve his family drama in the best interest of the children. The Polish Minister of Justice has also committed to talk to the mother Barbara in order to convince to accept the new approach.
After Vasilev took his kids from Poland to Bulgaria, their mother filed an abduction suit against him; the case was transferred to a Bulgarian court and Vasilev was eventually sentenced for kidnapping of his own children. He claims that the mother was terrible with the kids, and he had been justified in taking them to Bulgaria.
The attempt to seize the two kids with the aid of the police (the shocking video is available HERE), outraged the Bulgarian public opinion and culminated in public rallies before the Polish Embassy in Sofia.
