The victims of the tragic bus accident near the South Bulgarian city of Yambol on Thursday morning have become seventeen.

31-year-old Shengul Mehmedova Yasharova died early Saturday morning in the Military Medical Academy in Sofia.

She suffered severe head injuries after the crash, and was put into a medically provoked coma.

According to the information provided by the hospital, Yasharova died from a pulmonary embolism as a result of the numerous injuries.

A bus careered down a mountainside called Bakadzhik Peak and plowed through a crowd of pedestrians heading to a religious festival in southeastern Bulgaria Thursday, killing at least 16 people and injuring at least 20.

Police said the bus had failed to pull over due to a technical problem.
