Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Sergey Stanishev, said Wednesday Bulgarian economic entities showed signs of revival in April-May 2009.

In his words, there was a rise in the state revenue during that period compared to the previous months when the Bulgarian economy is said to have hit the lowest point of economic activity, and suffered the worst effects of the global financial and economic crisis.

"The better statistical indicators do not remove the necessity of constant watching of the realization of the state budget. The state needs to keep its social commitments first, as well as its infrastructure program. All other expenditures like business trips, phones, and cars can be cut off. We will do that if we have to", the Prime Minister said.

"The very thought of Bulgaria leaving the EU would be madness", Prime Minister said, as quoted by BGNES, when asked if Bulgaria had benefited enough from its EU membership,
Stanishev made these comments in Varna where he turned the first sod of the new building of the pharmaceutical department at the Varna Medical University.

He then visited BulYard, the Varna shipbuilding yard, where he attended the launch of MARCIANA, the second largest ship ever built in the facility.
