Media curiosity stands in Bulgaria's Interior Ministry's way, and is harmful for investigation.
Interior Minister, Mihail Mikov, made that statement Tuesday during an interview for Bulgaria's National Television (BNT1).
Mikov admitted that there are information leaks in the Ministry's structure, but added that it was difficult to work under such media interest. Because of that, he refused to comment on Vene Sotirov's case. The businessman was allegedly kidnapped April 16.
"Medias leave a sense of instability in people, while the state has never been so stable", the minister said.
In Mokov's words, saying that the resent kidnaps are backed from current Interior Ministry employees is nonsense. There are many former policemen who are familiar enough with the system, he added.
Mikov stressed on the need of law changes to be passed. Mobile Communications companies should keep track of their customers, he said. Because of the high tech techniques criminals use, the police should be allowed to counteract by all kinds of measures, Mikov explained.
"The society must realize that the right for security is equal to the right for freedom. Currently, the police is torn apart between acting like Rambo, or saving human life by all means", Minister Mikov said.
Mikov's opinion is very different from what experts say. They say that all cases of kidnapping are connected with Interior Ministry employees. They add that lack of loyalty by former policemen is also a concern.
